An American Football League AFL All-Star team signed football. The AFL held their first All-Star game after their second season, with the game being played at Balboa Stadium in San Diego, California, on January 7th, 1962. The game was played between the 8 teams of Eastern and Western Conferences of the league, with the West winning 47-27. The AFL was the first legitimate challenge to the NFL’s domination of football and lasted 10 years until it was absorbed into the NFL before the start of the 1970 season.

This presented Official Spalding American Football League football features the AFL logo stamped in black next to a Commissioner Joe Foss stamp panel. The ball features signatures from players Lionel Taylor, Gene Prebola, Bud McFadden, Goose Gonsoulin, Dave Smith, Bill Groman, Mel Branch, Sherril Headrick, and Archie Mastos. 1960 Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year and member of the AFL All-Time Team Abner Haynes signed the football on the bottom panel, joined by the signature of 1959 Heisman Award Winner, First Pick in the AFL Draft and three-time AFL Champion Billy Cannon. Two-time AFL Champion, AFL MVP in 1965 Jack Kemp signed below Cannon’s signature. The 1961 AFL MVP, three-time AFL Champion, member of the AFL All-Time Team and Football Hall of Famer George Blanda signed the football on the bottom panel as well. All 13 signatures are in black marker and the football displays some toning on the stitches and a deflation indentation. This comes with a LOA from USA.
